Mehmet Sami Boz

After graduating from Boun Economics, I am continuing my education with a master's in economics again at Bogazici University. Currently, I'm working on my thesis about the microstructure of the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Additionally, working for Algotecht, a startup that develops investment strategies for Pension/Mutual retail customers and gives consultancy to firms about hedging and risk modeling. Because this is a startup, I'm doing tasks that several different roles will probably do in a more institutionalized firm. These roles are Data engineer and Quant Analyst. Maybe we could count platform engineer also because I participated in a project writing a program that mimics an asset management firm to test our models most realistically. That was an exciting assignment. Furthermore, I'm handling our data flows in and out to our SQL server daily. Thanks to the automation that I did, these tasks are much easier than before. Finally and most importantly, I'm developing models that lead investment strategies. Our most recent research is about a factor investing model on the global equity indexes universe that tries to beat S&P 500. We are using R & tidyverse extensively in our projects. Apart from my jobs in Algotecht, I'm working as a graduate teaching assistant at Boun economics. I was an assistant in the following courses; Machine learning, portfolio management, Econometrics, Algorithmic trading, and R applications in finance. I've provided supplementary coursework using my experience and knowledge of these topics. I'm trying to expand my Python skills with courses I took and am currently taking, and hoping to use it further in my career. Skills Technical: R, Python, Excel, SQL.
