Melissa Riggs

I am the Education Technology Specialist for Instruction with District 49 in Colorado Springs. I began my career as a Kindergarten teacher for 16 years before moving up to 5th grade and a 1-to-1 iPad classroom. When I started teaching in 1990, the technology available was a mimeograph machine and one telephone on the school secretary’s desk. I love how technology can be used to engage some of the most reluctant learners and show them that learning extends beyond a boring textbook. My job includes working with staff and students to make learning more engaging and meaningful. I'm the main contact for all things dealing with Student Data Privacy and Digital Citizenship. I run a local Schoology Ambassador group and an Innovation group within the district.
