For roughly 14 years I have been in the Cathodic Protection field as an Installer, Tester, Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Inspector, among other things. On the construction side of Cathodic Protection I have installed conventional and deep impressed anode ground bed systems, along with galvanic anode systems. Some systems would include various types of monitoring assemblies, cabling, and structure connections. Installation and energizing of cathodic protection rectifiers sometimes included preliminary adjustments and final adjustments and/or troubleshooting as required. I have done soil resistivity testing, CIS, Current Requirement testing, Isolation testing among others. I have used various pieces of equipment from Amecs, Meggars, Flukes, B3’s, Dataloggers to GPS units.Supervision of corrosion control systems would include the installation for water pipeline systems, electrical generating facilities, oil and gas production facilities, and airports are just some of the areas I have overseen systems being installed as an inspector.As Project Coordinator, I build the quote, submit the proposal, prepare the submittals, and receive the PO#. I then order the bill of materials required for the project, schedule the time to build or support the building of that project. In addition, I schedule the key subcontractors that will be required for that work. I schedule the key equipment for delivery. Then I schedule a time for a prejob meeting to discuss any issues or concerns prior to the start of the project.Once the project has started I am responsible for anything that is needed from the employees or the client. I also provide construction support services in terms of construction observations and 3rd party inspections during critical installations and, upon completion of the project, perform construction acceptance testing to verify compliance with plans and specifications.
