My research is focused on informatics for synthetic biologists. I work at Arzeda, The Protein Design Company, leading the data platform across the company. I completed my PhD in Biomedical and Health Informatics at the University of Washington in 2012. As part of my dissertation research I co-founded the Synthetic Biology Open Language (SBOL) an information exchange standard for biological engineering. In my free time I volunteer at the SoundBio, a community laboratory, enabling citizens scientists to do hands on biology experiments.
