About

Mike Lorigan, a reporter with Nine News Adelaide, has been a journalist and newsreader in Australian media for ten years. Over the last two and half years, Mike has showcased a wide range of broadcast skills while covering some of the biggest stories in South Australia, from the COVID-19 pandemic, bushfires, state politics and a specific focus on crime and emergencies. His work has appeared on every Nine News bulletin in the country, as well as the Today Show, and has proven a consistent performer on live television. He made the move to South Australia after more than three years as a Nine News sports presenter, reading both the Nine News Regional ACT and Southern NSW sports bulletin and the National 11:30am network bulletin. After growing up in Sydney, Lorigan did a Bachelor of Communication (Broadcast Journalism) degree at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. After completing his studies in 2012, Lorigan was an intern at Channel Ten and the North Shore Times in Sydney, before landing his first job: in the Triple M and 2DayFM newsroom. His reporting duties included covering press conferences, for the NRL in particular. In 2013, he took his first job as a newsreader in Port Macquarie with radio stations 2MCFM (now Triple M Mid North Coast) and Star FM (now Hit Mid North Coast), as well as Coffs Coast radio stations Triple M and Hit FM. He moved to television in 2014 as a reporter for Prime 7 in Taree, covering the Lower Mid North Coast and Great Lakes regions. Lorigan moved to NBN News Central Coast in 2015 and then to NBN Newcastle, where he covered bushfires, car accidents, NRL and A League games, local council mergers, and a variety of other stories. A highlight of his time in Newcastle was court reporting, covering murder trials and the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse. Away from work, Mike Lorigan enjoys watching live music and sport, and travel.
