Mohamed Elkasabgy, Ph.D., P.Eng.

Dr. Elkasabgy is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Elkasabgy has over 14 years of experience in geotechnical engineering on projects in Canada and Middle East. He has experience working in a variety of industries that included oil sands, mining, power generation, municipal, commercial and industrial. He also worked in geotechnical and geologically challenging environments. He worked in and participated in the management of different size projects ranging from small geotechnical investigation projects to multi-billion dollar value oil sands and pipeline projects. He worked on projects that included oil sands processing facilities, water dams, power substations, transmission lines, pipelines, commercial and industrial developments and earth retaining structures. His responsibilities and experience included project management, geotechnical investigations and soil characterization, design, construction, inspection and assessment of dams, design of shallow and deep foundations, soil and foundation dynamics, implementation and interpretation of high frequency dynamic and static foundation tests, geotechnical design of pipelines and evaluation of trenchless pipe installations, design and inspection of dams, seepage and slope stability analyses, finite element modeling, and ground improvement. He also has contributions in the field of physical modeling and measurements for irrigation structures. Dr. Elkasabgy has supervised junior and intermediate engineers and technicians. He also led teams of multidisciplinary professionals including: geotechnical, geohazard, infrastructure and water resources engineers. He has published over 10 technical articles.
