I am a television news/current affairs producer with extensive managerial and editorial experience working on Australia’s Number 1 breakfast show Sunrise, as a Senior Supervising Producer for the past 5 years, and as Chief of Staff for 6 years prior to that. I played an instrumental role in Sunrise maintaining its position at the top of a highly competitive breakfast television market. As the 2IC of one of Australia’s most well-known and flagship news programs, I was responsible for editorial content, breaking news, rolling coverage, planning and producing major world & local news events, generating new and ratings driven ideas, executing world first campaigns, managing & hiring staff (producers, editors, reporters & cameramen) and maintaining relationships with major sponsors and stakeholders. My biggest achievements at Sunrise include creating and producing some of the most complex outside broadcasts ever undertaken in the world, including taking the show to 5 countries in 5 days, something never attempted before by a LIVE news program. Other projects included broadcasting from 5 cities across the USA in 5 days, and a USA mystery tour, where viewers voted on the broadcast destination for the next day. I was also responsible for the broadcast of Sunrise LIVE TV weddings amongst other special events including the Royal Wedding of Harry & Meghan. I field produced significant rolling coverage news events like floods, cyclones, bushfires, Federal Budgets, federal leadership spills, the inauguration of Barrack Obama and the election of Pope Francis. I have a strong news sense which began as a reporter in talkback radio in my early career covering the Sydney Olympic Games & Torch Relay. I moved into television as a reporter for 7 News Melbourne where I covered some of the biggest news stories in history including the collapse of Ansett and Melbourne’s gangland killings. I was also 7 Melbourne’s court reporter, covering high profile cases such as the trial for murdered policemen Sgt Silk and Snr Constable Miller, the case of serial killer Peter Dupas, drug boss Tony Mokbel, and the landmark case of lung cancer victim Rolah McCabe against British American Tobacco. At 7 News Melbourne, I also worked as Executive Producer of the 6pm Weekend News Bulletin, and Line Up producer for the 6pm Weekday Bulletin. I have a unique understanding of audience needs, a great sense of identifying a story and being able to tell it, I can work to tight deadlines, I have exceptional communication skills, a collaborative and caring but firm leadership style.
