Mussie Tesfay

I am currently a private engineering company manager and provide freelance consultancy services in my spare time. I previously worked as a teaching and research scholar at a public university, a project coordinator for an NGO, and a national training and certification project manager for a consulting firm. Through my initiative and as a recruited consultant, I have delivered on various projects in biomass to energy conversion: method and technology development, project appraisal, indoor air quality monitoring, energy auditing, solar energy for off-grid power supply, and project evaluation, to mention some. My two most significant projects have been a UNDP award-winning clean charcoal producing gasifier stove development and a successful project on the production of carbonized briquettes from disposable coffee husk to substitute charcoal from wood, both of which were able to be commercialized. In the years to come, I am looking forward to engaging in more R&D activities with a wider scope and higher significance in the areas of consumer-end energy management, decentralized renewable energy solutions, and thermochemical conversion of biomass and other organic wastes for their efficient utilization and generation of value-added products such as biofuels and biochar. This is to be achieved in partnerships with individuals and institutions having similar interests, while also enhancing my knowledge through experiences and enrollment in further studies.
