Nadia Esselen

I am a newly graduated PhD from the group of Biological Physics at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. My PhD project focused on developing new strategies to study how viruses infect cells to replicate and spread, with the long-term goal to gain knowledge needed for the development of antiviral drugs and vaccines. I have a strong interest in research and innovation in life sciences, motivated by the progress that has been done in this field during the last century, and the possibilities of finding new solutions to improve life quality. I like working with both oral and written scientific communication and enjoy discussing new ideas with interested and curious minds. Besides science, music plays an important part in my life. I play flute in a symphonic orchestra in Gothenburg and regularly attend concerts or musicals. I also enjoy traveling to discover new places and cultures, as well as going hiking or skiing to explore nature.
