About

I have been Teaching for over twenty years in the public schools of Puerto Rico and Osceola county Florida. My responsibilities have included: assist and collaborate with co-workers to develop rigorous lessons based on student's needs and utilizing students data and observations to better organize students in learning groups, and create formative/summative assessments, activities and materials needed for our instruction. Additionally, I utilize ESE, ESOL, and Dual Language Strategies in my planning and instruction. While working effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, I strive to make a difference in the lives of children and their families, making sure that every student feels comfortable, happy and enjoy learning in school. I consider the social emotional learning in my lessons, ensuring the highest quality education for every student. Always working hard to maximize each child’s potential for growth and prepare my students for the future. I have been part of the Dual Language Program since it started at East Lake Elementary School in the 2018-2019 school year. The passion I have for other cultures and ELL students helped me to be chosen to complete a Dual Language Teacher Certificate in Teaching and Leadership at the University of Central Florida, which I completed in July 2020. Furthermore, having the opportunity of being part of that cohort with amazing teachers and professors, inspired me way more than I was. I was able to develop my skills, improve my knowledge and competencies in bilingualism, biliteracy, and multiculturalism. Which helped me to implement cultural diversity activities in a supportive and cultural diverse environment. Furthermore, one of the professors, Dr. Florin Mihai, contacted me and my teacher partner, to assist him in two workshops. One of them was with the Multicultural Department professional development for ESOL, Spanish and Dual language teachers in the school district of Osceola County, and then to collaborate with Dr. Mihai to share strategies and resources with Fellsmere Elementary School from Indian River School District. This school was delighted with our presentation that even scheduled a visit to our school. In addition, another professor invited me and a my teacher partner to share our effective Dual Language strategies with principals and assistant principals from my school district. I am currently assisting the Multicultural Department and Dual Language Program with the translation of curriculum resources for this upcoming school year.
