After choosing to take a year out to travel after university, I carefully planned to spend 1 month in Australia and 2 months in Oman as part of a BES expedition. The expedition had a 4 week exploration and adventure phase in the Empty Quarter Desert, followed by a 4 week scientific phase in the Dhofar Mountains. The main tasks were to capture data on the wildlife that lives in Wadi Sayq and to set camera traps in attempts to achieve footage of the rare Arabian leopard. The experience was fantastic, with challenges that I overcame and many unforgettable moments. I have recently returned to the UK and am in search of a permanent job to start in September 2013.
