Nathan Melchor

My name is Nathan Melchor. I graduated from the University of New Haven in May of 2012. During my 4 years of studying, I majored in Criminal Justice Investigative Services and minored in Sociology. My goal is to become a police officer and promoted as a detective. Interning at the New Haven Police Department with the Bureau of Identifications Unit helped me decide the career path that I want to pursue with my college degree. During my internship I was able to observe proper techniques that were used to investigate a crime scene. I was able to do some lab work such as dusting hard surfaced items for fingerprints. I did lots of data entry on the computer. I even did police ride alongs which were fun. I was able to get some key pointers from rookies about the Police Academy. Most importantly the police officers who had been on the force for a long period of time were able to inform me on the experiences that they had while being in the force.
