Nathaniel Smith

Nathaniel’s enthusiasm and passion for all things post-production audio is inescapable. He landed in Los Angeles in 2009 chasing the dream of composing music for film and television. Armed with a lifetime of musical training, ten years of club DJing, and a Master’s degree in music for media he dived into the extremely competitive field of film composers. Quickly he was working at Remote Control Productions, Hans Zimmer’s music for media powerhouse, assisting on major projects. After a few years of bouncing around from composer to composer assisting on a wide variety of musical projects (47 Ronin with Ilan Eshkeri, Franca with Daniel Heath, and as a production assistant with Johnny McDaid) he found a kindred spirit in Rupert Parkes, AKA Photek. As an assistant composer with Photek he helped create scores for How To Get Away With Murder (ABC), Still Star-Crossed (ABC), and the documentary Mosul. Then, in 2017, Nathaniel was called on to help mix a pilot for Comedy Central at the Viacom Hollywood post facility. Suddenly his technical audio skills and his creative musical skills were being used in a whole new way. Working closely with some of the entertainment industry’s brightest rising stars he was helping to craft short form comedy, drama, and documentary spots across all of the Viacom properties.Nathaniel has sharpened his professional skillset to include all things post production audio; dialog editing and cleanup, music composing and editing, sound design, VO/ADR recording, and creating the final mix of it all. Match that with his infectious enthusiasm and audience-focused mindset and you get a post production audio specialist who genuinely cares about every single project and giving his team the absolute best final product possible.
