From the get go I knew that every project would have a vast problem, barrier if you will, that stopped you in your tracks. The fun part was finding ways around those barriers. Circumventing what was thought to be difficult and making it look easy. Some projects or requests were easily snatched up and taken care of. Minor fix here. Quick process change there. Something to keep you on your toes. This was not that kind of project. From the start I knew two main barriers existed. With a possible third at the end. For barrier one I knew I would need assistance from the ‘Lady in Green’. She liked the color green and she enjoyed the nickname. Even her running shirts had ‘Lady in Green’ on the back instead of her name. A meeting about system changes and workflow produced the results I needed. Barrier one passed. Barrier two required a bit of tinkering. Loaded up the personal workshop and started to run tests. The first few tests produced known information. Nothing of help. Frustration started to set in. That usually means it is coffee time. The nice thing about coffee is that it gives you a chance to come up with some crazy ideas. While crazy idea one didn’t pay off, crazy idea two was like gang busters. The tests look good and the process worked. With testing and double testing complete, system implementation into the production environment was green lit. This would complete the project and an immense feeling of accomplishment washed over all parties involved. Things settled down for a bit after that. However, it didn’t take long for the corporation to put down another project. Three unknown barriers this time. I didn’t know what they were but that wasn’t a concern. Double checked my resources, took a deep breath and said, with a grin, “Here we go!”.
