Nicholas Bareman

I achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in May, 2010 with a major in public relations and minor in marketing. This is unique in the fact that nearly all other public relations graduates obtain their degree as part of a communications program. As part of the business programs, my education in public relations has provided me with a broad understanding of business, including marketing, advertising, accounting and ethics. I also received the Ferris State University Public Relations Award of Excellence in May, 2010 and was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America for two years. I completed a community relations internship with the Traverse City Beach Bums minor league baseball team in Michigan, September 2010. Throughout my internship I gained first-hand experience in community relations, customer relations and sales. As an intern, I was responsible for various tasks such as drafting newsletters, press releases, answering phone calls and emails regarding customer complaints, questions and event planning requests. Each of these tasks further strengthened my personal communication skills, both written and oral. Personally, I am a hard-working, self-motivated and artistic individual with a drive to succeed. I learn quickly and am eager to do so when faced with new challenges and opportunities. I enjoy regularly interacting with others and prefer to work in a team-oriented atmosphere, but am equally effective when working alone. Despite my limited professional background, I have a broad business skill set that allows me to adapt quickly and provide results that typically exceed expectations. Specialties: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of social media. Skillful using Microsoft Word, Publisher, Powerpoint.
