I recently left my leadership role at Zovio and began a new & exciting role at the State of Colorado: Department of Public Health & Environment in the Human Resources department as an Employee & Labor Relations Specialist III. In my career, I have not settled for meeting minimum expectations in business strategy or people operations goals. At Zovio, I mentored staff and created game-changing solutions for the organization. Examples include reinventing the Student Services LiveChat and Social Media Management processes, creating a professional development program for Student Services, creating the organization's first Employee Resource Group (ERG), and structuring our student crisis response strategies. I also was responsible for mediation conversations with students as a point person for our Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) & and students going through conduct/grievance/disciplinary processes, along with mediating conflict for Zovio employees. I have created professional development and employee rewards programs, implemented HR initiatives, led three Agile Project Management teams, and was critical in maintaining our partnership with the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC). The outcomes of these talent management initiatives, innovative projects, and leadership accomplishments resulted in me being awarded Zovio Manager of the year (2021), Employee of the Year (2018), 10 direct reports receiving Employee of the Quarter awards, and 7 direct reports earning promotions. Prior to my career at Zovio, I created success while managing retail stores to winning company-wide sales competitions, designed a back-of-house operations system to reduce the cost that was ultimately adopted by Gap Outlet, and maximized operational effectiveness & customer satisfaction as the First Mate & Boat Manager on a 50-ton/49 passenger excursion boat.
