I have led the market introduction of an all-electric MT50e delivery van and a propane S2G truck, and led new powertrain development of a gasoline cab-over truck, diesel motorhome and delivery van, and many schoolbus and commercial bus integrations. Major projects have budgets of $10M+, 10k-40k+ hours, drive new production lines, require new government certification, and impact every department as they grow the business. Electric vehicle experience includes design of powertrain systems, multi-loop thermal management systems, high voltage power electronics packaging, system controls specification, and integration design, builds, and testing. Core technical experience spans engines, aftertreatments, transmissions, cooling systems, and powertrain accessories. Additional background with fuel systems, drivelines, suspensions, brakes, and pneumatics. Responsibilities include writing system specifications, component design, bill of material coordination, supplier development, application engineering, and field issue resolution, as well as supervising a team of engineers performing any of these tasks. Alternate fuel product development has led to direct involvement in challenges such as range anxiety, vehicle safety, ROI for alternate fuel systems, and preconceptions regarding performance and reliability. Strategic project planning and management experience includes coordination with compliance / regulatory experts and sales / marketing leads to align major project development with federal and state regulatory changes and industry trends. Role also requires leadership of mechanical, electrical, and test team members within engineering group, and coordination with cross functional support resources such as manufacturing, purchasing, and aftermarket representatives. Major project lead experience includes budget and timeline creation and tracking, top-down and bottom-up costing analysis, and reporting cadence for upper management.
