Nick Moreton

I am a self-motivated and hardworking health and safety professional with a background in Highways civil engineering and project management. I have an excellent track record in delivery of projects and have proven leadership skills, including managing, developing and motivating numerous multidisciplinary teams to achieve team and corporate objectives. I am an effective communicator at all levels with excellent analytical and problem solving skills. I originally trained as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager and have an honours degree in Civil and Structural engineering. I have a background in the design, construction, maintenance and operational control of strategic highways for the Highways Agency (HA). I gained my NEBOSH Diploma with Distinction via part time study in 2004 and became a Chartered Safety Practitioner at the end of 2006. I joined Mouchel in August 2006 to develop a H&S management system and achieved OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation across the entire highways business (37 offices > 3000 staff) 18 months later. Following the acquisition of May Gurney in July 2013, I currently provide specialist SHE advisory, training, and support services to the Kier MG Highways business and am an experienced ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 auditor. I am a trained Kelvin TopSet Accident investigator and have been part of / lead on numerous investigations including Group Significant Incidents and Fatalities. I have extensive experience of dealing with UK Police forces (including ACPO) and the HSE. Over the years I have represented the HA and/or the Highway Maintenance industry on numerous industry working groups including National Highways Sector Scheme committees (12 and 17), Road Workers Safety Forum, HA/DfT Chapter 8 Technical Project Board, DfT Safety Working Group revising the NRSWA Code of Practice and the HA Major Projects Safety Working Group. I was the Chair of the Highways Term Maintenance Association Safety Forum until the end of 2012.
