Nicky Kerr

I moved from South Africa to the UK with my family in 2017 and had a change in career as I have always had a passion for people and social care. I started off with an admin position with the NHS and later secured a position as a Social Prescriber in the Cambridge City PCN. It has been a time of huge growth both mentally and intellectually, I have had to do extensive study and training to better understand the role and I continue to learn and grow every day. As a social prescriber, I empower people to take control of their health and well-being and shift the focus back to what matters to them. I try to take a holistic approach to an individual’s health and well-being keeping in mind equality and diversity, by connecting people to community groups and statutory services for practical, physical and emotional support. An important part of my role is to have a good knowledge of activities and opportunities on offer in the city at any given time. Prior to moving to the UK I worked as an Architectural Consultant and Project Manager. I have been in the industry for several years and have a passion for creating sustainable buildings, with an emphasis on energy efficient design, materials, sustainability, quality, and customer service. During this time I have had various roles that have improved my expertise in design, Consulting, management and Design administration. The last few years I focused on managing construction projects and working on large scale urban planning and master planning. This has also enabled me to develop strong project management and communication skills
