Nicola Newson

I’m the Facilities Associate for Pega Systems EMEA Head Quarters. In this role I lead the company’s health and safety polices, oversee contractors and building maintenance teams to ensure the upkeep of the office is kept to a high standard. Due to the COVID19 Pandemic my role has transformed with more focus on health and safety and ensuring staff have a safe working environment when working in the office. This extends to staff who are working from home, ensuring they have the correct equipment and training to enable them to work comfortably following completed risk assessments. Before joining Pegasystems, I worked for Infotec and was lucky enough to work with amazing customers allowing me to develop my customer service and problem solving skills. I further developed my facilities management skills whilst working for Infotec UK Ltd; these skills where demonstrated when I took on the project to reduce costs and the companies Carbon Footprint. I achieved this by researching and negotiating a new stationary supplier, as well as organizing and implementing a company recycling policy, with paper, card, plastic and aluminium recycling bins at each UK office. Both of these achievements aided in the company becoming ISO 14001 accredited. I’m truly passionate about my work and always eager to network with other facilities managers and contractors. While I enjoy all aspects of my job, I think my favourite stage of a new project is problem solving, it is important to understand the business objectives and the desired results. As we go through that collaborative process, the ideas start to flow and that’s always the fun part. I really enjoy helping people and at the end of a project or task I really enjoy seeing my colleagues enjoy and appreciate the efforts.
