Nicolas Beike

I am a Junior at Youngstown State University, and I am pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Economics. Over the previous winter break I studied very hard and was able to pass my first actuarial exam in January. There was a lot of material to cover, but, I was able to stay dedicated to my study plan to pass the exam. In my current position, I am a learning assistant at the Math Assistance Center at YSU. As a tutor, I help other students work through problems and prepare for exams. The most challenging part for me is helping students through new concepts. This helped me develop strong communication skills that allow me to convey complex topics in a simple and understandable way. This job also requires me to find new and creative ways to explain new concepts to others. My goal right now is to get an internship in either the actuarial or financial fields to get some hands on experience. I think it would be a great opportunity for me to not only grow my skills but to experience how these fields function in the real world.
