Nicole Salama B.A. (Hons), LL.B

With over 15 years of experience in the legal profession, I have held diverse positions in both private practice and legal education. As the Director of Legal Talent at Minden Gross LLP, I manage all phases of talent acquisition for the office's associates and law students. I am in charge of the recruitment, onboarding, professional development, mentoring and review processes for the Toronto associates and students.Before joining Minden Gross I ran the associate and law clerk programs at the Gowling WLG Toronto office, where I managed roughly 100 legal professionals from recruitment to professional development and retention.As a Program Lawyer and Legal Career Counselor at Osgoode Hall Law School I designed, developed and implemented professional development programs for students. My programs provided students with hands on skills and training in various subjects ranging from financial literacy to design thinking. In addition to creating and directing several programs, I also advised students on job search techniques and preparation. In my Career Counselor role I also assisted with running recruitment processes for our students.When I first started at Osgoode I was the Manager of Faculty Governance and the Dean's Office where I ran the faculty recruitment process, wrote strategic plans for the school and was a member of the law school's management team.Prior to working at the law school, I spent several years practicing commercial litigation at a mid-size downtown Toronto law firm. I have experience litigating professional liability claims, construction disputes and general civil litigation matters. Due to the nature of my work, I am adept at multitasking, researching and analyzing complex legal issues and advising clients and senior counsel with respect to litigation strategy and direction. In addition to balancing a heavy caseload of complex litigation files, I participated in all aspects of recruiting students to the firm and mentored both students and younger associates. I enjoy volunteering in the community, traveling and practicing yoga in my spare time.
