Niels Dalum Hansen

I am a computer science PhD with theoretical and practical experience in developing and deploying machine learning methods. Currently I am working on customer retention using machine learning in a major Danish bank. I am the primary developer of the bank’s churn model and my responsibilities include project scoping, feature engineering, model building and deployment. Having a background in computer science gives me a well-founded understanding of data structures, databases and data management, which helps me understand how we go from passive information in a database to actively use the data in a machine learning setting. I enjoy the process of developing an idea into a finished product. Identifying the actual needs in the organization, researching methods, locating the necessary data and implementing the final model. I believe such a holistic view on the use of machine learning is necessary to really gain advantage of the new technologies.
