Ofelia Rivera

Currently, I am pursuing a B.S. In Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas. During my time here, I have been a 4.0 student in the honors college. I hope to use the skills I learn at UNT, my creativity, and my love for coding to one day become a multimedia programmer. While applying to UNT I had no idea what to major in, so I chose computer science because a friend randomly suggested it. That choice quickly helped me discover one of my passions: coding. The computer science classes I took and the STEM heavy course load transformed school from a chore to an interesting element of my life. In my classes, I was able to delve into coding and truly understand all the elements that go behind the use of everyday technology. At UNT I have learned to code in C/C++. My class projects have allowed me to develop many different programs. The difficulty of these programs varying from simple programs that output one statement to programs riddled with loops and difficult coding elements that take weeks to develop and perfect. The engineering college at UNT has helped me sharpen my skills and allowed me to pursue my passion for computer science. Currently, I am looking for a software development internship for the summer of 2020. This coming summer I hope to develop my coding skills even further while immersing myself in the work field.
