Oliver Thomas

I’m a Web Developer currently working for the University of Birmingham. I love anything code related and solving problems is kind of the main reason I get out of bed in the morning! I’ve definitely had an eclectic career over the past few years but it was only up until about 2 years ago that I decided to pursue a career in web development. Tinkering around with code has always been something I’ve done ever since I was a teenager (I remember spending hours on Myspace using custom HTML and CSS to jazz up my profile, those were the days!). I never let my lack of relevant qualifications or experience hold me back! I did as many code courses as I could and put a small portfolio of work together and started applying for junior positions. Admittedly it took quite a bit of time and many portfolio iterations and refinements for me to get an interview but eventually I was offered my first developer role and it felt like a great achievement! Being a developer suits my personality perfectly as I’m a very creative person and I’m always up for learning something new.
