Orhan G. Yalçın, Ph.D.

I am a qualified lawyer with business development and data science skills. Previously, worked as a legal trainee for Allen & Overy on capital markets, competition, and corporate law matters. I have tutored in applied econometrics, law, and finance topics for more than 5 years. Having a good understanding of statistics and econometrics helped me to excel at machine learning, deep learning, and data science fields. I apply my domain knowledge in finance & law to machine learning and data science fields. I aim to become a person with multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills. I have an LLB in Law and a BA in Business Administration from Koç University and I completed the LL.M. Program in Public Law at Koç University with the thesis titled “Taxation of Cryptocurrencies and Initial Coin Offerings”. During my exchange period, I completed an AI minor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Previously, I worked on a legaltech project, called Legalist, which is the first online agreement generation platform in Turkey. I worked at Endeavor Turkey as a business development associate and conducted legal informatics research as a consultant at the World Bank. Currently, I am a Ph.D. Candidate at the Joint Ph.D. Program on Law, Science, and Technology called Last-JD-RIoE and focus my research on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) at the University of Bologna.
