I am a deep and sincere listener; I make inferences, and consistently bring unique perspectives to problem-solving.HIGHER EDUCATION I am passionate about addressing the challenges of college access, retention, and graduation for low-income and underrepresented minorities and in eliminating inequities in higher education. "Thinking outside of the box," I seek to uncover and combat failing systematic patterns in higher education and strategize and create opportunities to improve the standards for success, retention, and graduation rates of low income, unrepresented, and first-generation students at four-year institutions. HUMAN RIGHTSThe foundation of my research is the intersectionality of human rights and state security. I assess the impact of the linguistic articulation of political speech on displaced people's perception of their rights, belonging, and ability to contribute to knowledge production. In other words, I seek to address how the speaker's intention in delivering political utterances advances securitizing moves and promotes the epistemic oppression of displaced communities. My wish is to provide a new account of the refugee experience, which draws on the idea of epistemic privilege and melds the knowledge from those in perceived positions of powerlessness with those who engage in power politics.
