Osama Gouhar

Osama is a researcher and learning specialist with a focus on human rights-based approaches, youth activism and governance within the Middle East and North Africa. For almost 10 years, Osama has built an extensive background with various Civil Society actors (Aid Agencies, INGOs, CBOs, Social movements, networks.etc). Through his experience; Osama has proven his ability to plan and train multidisciplinary teams and simultaneously coordinate multiple projects. Osama has an extensive background in research, training, curriculum design, evaluation of learning outcomes and institutional capacity development. He has developed a strong understanding of humanitarian work and the best approaches to developing durable solutions. Building community resilience in conflict-affected contexts has been the focus of his career in the last 3 years through his work in countries neighbouring the Syria and Iraq conflicts. Furthermore, Osama is engaged in Governance Advocacy and leadership with ActionAid in Jordan and Lebanon responding to the protracted crisis in Syria. As an adult educator. Osama believes that civil society should shift its focus on building local expertise for people to develop their own community-driven-solutions in conflict-affected communities.
