I am currently employed full-time as an urgent care and telehealth physician by the Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, which serves over 600,000 patients in the states of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia at 29 medical centers, several community hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. I am also the Assistant Regional Medical Director for the Group's Virtual Medical Center, addressing the urgent needs of our members via telehealth across the region. This will soon expand to cover any members travelling across the 50 States.I also the Assistant Regional Medical Director of our Emergency Care Management team—a team of physicians in a department working 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with duties to include:- Develop and improve existing contracts between hospital and ambulance partners and non-partners; - Pre-patriations and re-patriations: process transfers for patients who need a various levels of care including emergency departments, inpatient facilities, rehabs/other care services, and within outpatient Kaiser departments;- Review and submit referrals for all non-partnering emergency departments and subsequent inpatient admissions;- Provide medical advice and care to patients both directly and indirectly via workflows between nursing staff, interdepartmental partnerships, and automated electronic medical record keeping.
