I love marketing food products – communicating their unique and distinct attributes and removing the barriers that keep them from realizing their potential.When I started working with Alaska Pollock in 2004, it was the most consumed fish in the world, but few knew they were eating it. Everyone called it whitefish, and its major competitor from Russia was legally allowed to market their fish as “Alaska Pollock.”After uncovering its advantages and supporting those claims with hard data, I convinced domestic and international customers to use the name Alaska Pollock and to message the benefits to consumers.Today, there is excitement in the Alaska Pollock market like never before. Hundreds of products proudly bear the Alaska Pollock name and more products are being introduced every day. And the name Alaska Pollock is now protected.
