Patricia Ottow

I am a critical thinker with experience utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to drive process improvements. I currently hold a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership Studies; Master of Education; and Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. In my current Supervisor role at Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), I influence the safety, wellbeing and establishment of permanent plans for children and families. I have a reputable track record in teaching and mentoring staff and empowering employees to excel in their respective roles. My unit of social workers has received acknowledgement for a record number of children on the path to successful reunification with their parents. As a supervisor, I have demonstrated expertise in staff development through coaching and clinical supervision, supporting staff with ongoing training, and providing constructive feedback through strength based and goal-oriented employee performance evaluations. I’ve shown excellent oral and written communication through building excellent client networks with staff, stakeholders, and partners during my tenure at DCYF. I am skilled at monitoring policy changes and supporting state performance improvement plans by incorporating outcome goals into my daily clinical supervision with staff. I have working knowledge of the laws, policies and procedures that drive effective and ethical practice in the field of Child Welfare.
