About
I am a Ph.D. synthetic organic chemist working for a medium-sized biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and synthesis of novel fluorescent reagents for bioscience research. I earned my Ph.D. studying asymmetric organocatalysis, a branch of "green chemistry".I am deeply interested in using my knowledge of organic chemistry to create a more sustainable world. I am interested in developing green chemical processes that generate less waste and use less energy, which can still be applied at the industrial level in the biotechnology and drug development industries.I truly believe that the power of chemistry and science in general gives us the ability to transform our world and that the focus of scientific research should be to discover and create things that benefit the earth, our species, and the life around it. In order to do this we must think critically about the research we undertake and be sure that is something that will contribute to the betterment of our society and our planet.
