I am a chartered member of IOSH health & safety professional providing strategy, leadership and managing people skills in my role as the West Territory Safety Manager at English Heritage. I have extensive experience in: • Identifying and achieving strategic objectives • Engaging staff and developing a positive health & safety culture • Providing strong leadership, managing and motivating people • Developing and implementing/embedding health & safety management systems • Providing effective oversight and assurance on health & safety and compliance • Leading health & safety on major capital investment and CDM projects • Providing health & safety advice and supporting staff • Developing and delivering inspirational training • Ensuring security and business continuity My approach to health & safety is balanced, considers the operational risks/people affected and also the organisational context in which the organisation/sector operates. I try to understand how and why staff work the way that they do and tailor my guidance/style accordingly, to get them to buy into my safety philosophy. I am always conscious that safety decisions are made in a public context and that safety failures can lead to serious reputational damage which may never be recovered from. I believe that building relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners is key to safety success.
