As an employment specialist it is my responsibility to place new employees in the job position that will most benefit both the employee and the company itself. The specialist then follows up with the new workers and provides them with any training or assistance that they may need to make sure they are happy with their new job. The benifit to companies is that as a job developer I can make your hiring process easier and more successful, reduce the cost of training new employees and provide on going support for any issues that may arise. Working with people with disabilities provides you with a group that represent a huge untapped pool of labour Why should you hire a person with a disability? Many great reasons that are backed up by many studies such as: A Harris study found that 88%of workers who have a disability earned performance ratings of good or excellent. A DuPont survey reported average or above average performance for 90% of workers who have a disability. A Pizza Hut Corporation study showed that workers who have a disability are five times more likely to stay on the job. A DuPont survey also showed that 97% of workers who have a disability rate average or above average in safety on the job. Studies show that long term fiscal benefits, lower absenteeism, lower workman’s compensation costs and more loyal and committed employees with increased tenure reduces the cost of training and integrating new staff.
