Paulina Beck Magaña

I am a Mexican attorney with a solid legal background and 11 years of legal practice in top-tier Mexican law firms, focusing on M&A, Project Finance, Energy & Infrastructure law, as well as in administrative, regulatory and constitutional litigation. I constantly assist international and domestic clients in all the necessary regulatory, legal and transactional aspects to implement complex energy and infrastructure projects in Mexico; including: obtaining the applicable resolutions, authorizations, permits and approvals, negotiations with authorities and government agencies, preparation and supervision of Due Diligence procedures, drafting and negotiating different types of agreements, such as SPA’s, PPA´s, EPC´s, MOU’s, NDA’s, construction, leasing, assignment, O&M, and public private agreements with governmental authorities as off-takers. I also have solid experience advising clients in international bidding applications for exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons and other types of government procurement procedures and tender processes (e.g. CNH, CFE), having developed unique knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to the energy sector in Mexico. Likewise, I provide legal assistance in connection with company formation, day-to-day corporate matters and drafting and negotiation of different types of commercial agreements, such as: farm-outs, JV´s, services and reserved base loans. Lastly, working at a top tier litigation firm has provided me with a unique contentious perspective which allows me to develop preventive strategies for my clients when structuring and negotiating complex M&A transactions, as well as providing counsel in the implementation of defense mechanisms against administrative rulings, sanctions and rescissions. I earned my law degree from Universidad Anahuac del Sur, Mexico City, Mexico (2017), where I graduated with honors as summa cum laude with the highest GPA of my class.
