Peter McGregor

I have a high level of technical and maintenance expertise having specialised in the field of Railway Signalling construction, maintenance, technical and design areas for more than 30 years. I graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree which was followed with a Systems Engineering Graduate Diploma to build on my extensive experience in signals maintenance and technical support in my earlier years. I applied my expertise to type approvals, technical standards development and analysis of failures and maintenance processes seeking to improve safety, reliability and efficiency. My expertise is recognised by being selected to lead designs for key technical projects involving new signalling and control systems. As my career progressed I have built on my technical experience to take on management leadership roles in operational and business management. I have also expanded my technical skills to also include: electrical, communications and track design areas. My six sigma and lean project work led to successful infrastructure and workshop improvements and demonstrates how I can implement real measures and build team performance and accountability. This work was done across maintenance divisions as I worked with many stakeholders across internal and external organisations. As the Head of Signal Design in RailCorp I used my experience and skills to improve our customer focus by improving stakeholder engagement upfront. My concept design ideas have helped tighten the design scope to ensure the project progresses well in a complex organisational environment. In August 2013 I took up a new role as the Lead Signals and Control Systems Engineer with the ASA (Asset Standards Authority) in Transport for NSW. With the recent Evolving Transport reorganisation I am currently Director Signal and Control System Engineering within the Asset Management Branch (AMB) in SER Transport for NSW. In late July 2021 I was pleased to commence work in the private sector and join the great team at JMD RailTech.
