I'm an experienced full-stack web and mobile software developer, analyst, project manager, entrepreneur, supporter, product owner and team manager. I have worked in proprietary & open source technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Bootstrap, React Javascript and Typescript, and cloud services like AWS & Heroku. I feel I have a strong appreciation of the realities of what it takes to make a web business or project work, and the importance of the people on that journey. I was one of the co-founders of HireThings.co.nz and, from 2006 to 2009, worked full time across all aspects of the business, be it technological, financial, legal, user experience, sales, support or team related. After 9 years back working around Wellington, I have recently spent much of the 2019 and 2020 giving HireThings.co.nz and HireThings.com.au a long overdue application, platform and mobile-first upgrade, along with a number of business improvements. That done, I now look to apply my experience to work with others to build and enhance great online products and services. I respect the importance of usability, simplicity, and interaction design, and believe in short bursts of agile / focused development to conceive, build, release, and review product and service innovations. I enjoy working with most technologies and understanding their capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and solving business and technical challenges. However a great product requires a great team and a range of skills and abilities, and I'm always happy to see (& learn from) others taking the lead in their areas of strength and interest.
