Als fysiotherapeut sinds 1991 werkzaam in de eerstelijnsfysiotherapie, vanaf 1998 in Praktijk voor Fysiotherapie De Oppers te Drachten. Speciaal aandachtsgebied is Hart-Vaat-Long met daarnaast ook hyperventilatie in het bijzonder. Mede door mijn opleiding Evidence Based Practice (Klinische Epidemiologie) aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam heb ik de doelstelling een kwalitatief hoge, meer doelmatige en effectievere zorg te bewerkstelligen. Ook heb ik de ambitie en interesse om te ondersteunen en adviseren bij nieuwe onderzoeken. Daarnaast verwacht ik door deze Universitaire Master-competentie een inhoudelijke en beleidsmatige meerwaarde te kunnen hebben in bestaande en nieuwe zorgontwikkelingen. Als uitvoerend onderzoeker heb ik van 2009 tot 2014 een praktijkgericht wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar beweeggedrag van COPD Goldklasse 2 patienten geïnitieerd, ontwikkeld en geleidt. Vervolgens heb ik als verantwoordelijk onderzoeker en eerste auteur het onderzoeksmanuscript geschreven wat geresulteerd heeft in een internationale publicatie in het medisch wetenschappelijk Journal Physiotherapy in augustus2017. Per medio april 2020 ben ik, naast 2 dagen praktiserend fysiotherapeut, 2 dagen docent-onderzoeker fysiotherapie aan de Hanzehogeschool Groningen.
