I have traveled all over the world, and more recently I have moved to a few different states for a few years at a time. Along the way I've learned flexibility, relationship building, adaptability, and various communication styles are key qualities to possess when interacting with many different cultures and peoples. A smile and a generous gesture go a long way to help people feel comfortable and safe. In a former life, I managed a team of 3-5 employees, as well as 30-50 students, at an Aveda Institute, on a daily basis. I managed staffing, scheduling, conflict resolution, inventory, sales/retail goals, and overall morale of the 50 chair salon floor along with the retail store. It was a fast pace environment that forced me to think on my feet and pivot throughout the day. Before I decided to take the leap into Physical Therapy school, I was a cosmetologist. I was able to consult with my clients to get a clear picture of their goals, collaborate with them on a plan to reach their goals, and along the way gain their trust. On my journey towards Physical Therapy, one of my clients said that my hands were healing hands. It was such a powerful statement that guided me to a profession and industry that helped people in a meaningful way.
