Rainer Elsland

Rainer Elsland has been working as a researcher at Fraunhofer ISI since 2010, first in the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Systems and then in the Competence Center Energy Technology and Energy Systems since 2012. Following his vocational training as an energy electronics engineer at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, he went on to study industrial engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg and to obtain a Masters degree in the same subject at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). His PhD thesis at KIT concerned the energy industry. Since 2013, he has had teaching assignments at the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg, the University of Koblenz-Landau and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Lörrach. At the same time as working at Fraunhofer ISI, he took on the position of professor of energy economics and energy systems at the Wilhelm Büchner University of Applied Sciences - as Head of Studies for Energy Economics and Management as well as Dean of Studies for Industrial Engineering / Energy Engineering. He is also a member of the VDI (Association of German Engineers) Technical Division Strategic Energy and Environmental Tasks of the VDI Society Energy and Environment (VDI-GEU) and of the Working Group on Systems Analysis (in the field of energy) within the "Strategy dialogue automotive industry Baden-Wuerttemberg".
