Having had a keen interest in computers and Information Technology from an early age, often helping to fix computers as a hobby, it was a natural decision for me to enter that field as a career choice after gaining my Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science. Since then I have added many industry recognised Certifications to my name, such as Microsoft Certified Professional, ITIL, Networking and many more (see Certifications section of my profile for more detail). I am a strong advocate of professional development, especially in an ever-progressive industry governed by Moore’s Law! I enjoy being an IT Support Professional immensely as it feeds my need for challenge; no two days are ever the same. With the success I have garnered, it also feeds my need for achievement and recognition. My longer-term goal is to progress to IT Management. Some of the skills that have helped me to achieve as an IT Support Professional are: ►Organised – essential skill in IT Support. I have well-developed planning and time management skills, whether day-today or under pressure. ►Qualifications – as mentioned, I have the relevant qualifications and Certifications necessary to understand the theory behind the practice. ►Interpersonal Skills – with a team mindset, I can positively contribute to both operations and strategy. ►Analyst – I have an analytical mind and a methodical approach to problem solving, traits that have granted me a demonstrable record of success. ►Complementary Skills – in addition to technical proficiency, I have a multitude of other skills that enhance my role as an IT Support Professional, such as Customer Services – ensuring client satisfaction; written communications – able to write detailed documentation; training support – ability to conduct end-use training and mentor juniors.
