For me the worth of any business is it's ability to create value. Value being both defined as internal and external. External value is that the business needs to create something worthwhile, for which if it was not around the world would miss it. A simple yet powerful statement that I believe carries deep wisdom and meaning once reflected upon. Internal value has to be created by ensuring that each individuals potential is harnessed and realized, by ensuring that their thoughts, creativity, and passion are expressed to their fullest, moment to moment, as a state of mind and not as a job function. This leads to a third dimension of value: that the role of business is to tie the internal value expressed through potential to the external value expressed through profits - into the concept of Community, what I refer to as the 'Human Spirit'. It is what some call Social Entrepreneurship. Social Entrepreneurship is what I am all about. Tying business to meaningful value and raising community at the level of the Human Spirit - raising the mass potential of humanity as a whole as the end goal, and not profit alone. This is what I believe business is truly about and this is what I believe is the social age we are now in. Social Age I believe we are in a new age, A Social Age, and this new social age is facilitating a new kind of business and breeding a new kind of leader, a new kind of entrepreneur and I intend to be at the forefront of this revolution – starting locally, here in Raleigh, and then reaching out further to the rest of the USA and beyond.
