Reina Omura

I am an undergraduate fourth year student currently studying Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science at Griffith University, with aspirations of becoming a medical laboratory scientist. My desire to become a medical laboratory scientist extends beyond my passion to help others improve their quality of life but rather to fulfil my constant academic curiosity and be able to apply the knowledge for a greater purpose. My strengths include collaborative team work, problem-solving and research skills which have been gained throughout the course my studies (secondary and tertiary education), volunteer work and experiences in customer services and sales. Through my role as a supervisor at Coles I have demonstrated leadership skills and my ability to work collaborative with my team members and the team members of other departments in order to provide the best service for our customers. Working there has also taught me the importance of problem solving and the ability of being highly adaptable in stressful situations. During my volunteer experience with Iron Man Cairns it allowed further development of my problem-solving skill, as large events like these can be unpredictable even with a great depth of planning. I have acquired my research skills through the completion of many research-based assessments, including creating science magazine articles, writing lab reports, and preparing presentations, in my secondary and tertiary studies. Overall, I am a highly adaptable, team contributor who is constantly seeking learning opportunities and experiences, to improve the skills I already have and to gain many more new skills.
