An enthusiastic learner with 13 years of experience in conceptualizing and implementing high impact public health projects in resource limited settings. I have experience working with multiple stakeholders including USAID, DFID, EU, European CDC, US CDC, WHO, and UN. I have worked through the cascade of public health implementation from communities, health facilities, districts, national level and on the global space. Notable career experiences include 5 years of bedside medicine in infectious diseases and clinical research at Uganda’s largest hospital. As a technical lead for Global Health Security Agenda under USAID and CDC funded projects, I led efforts to develop over 15 national guidelines in the areas of Health Security, Infection Prevention and Control and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) containment. I have supported over 30 disease outbreak responses including but not limited to; Marburg, Ebola, Rift Valley Fever, Yellow Fever, Cholera, Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic fever, Anthrax, COVID-19 among others. I led USAID efforts for Global Health Security under the USAID Medicines Technologies and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) program where I served as the Country Project Director. I worked as the country project director for the USAID funded Medicines Technologies and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program. I am an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE Public Health Journal. My areas of expertise include; Global Health Security, Primary Health Care, Implementation Science, Operational and Clinical Research, Health Systems strengthening in resource limited settings, Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Control. I am drawn to the special challenges of Evidence Based Public Health, academic writing and technical documentation. I have authored/co-authored over 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and various grey literature. I hold a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from Makerere University and Postgraduate training in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Manchester.
