Richard Baker

Throughout my career, I have gained 10 years of experience in concrete production as the ‘Batch Plant Manager’ for ‘Explore Manufacturing’. The company makes precast concrete elements for construction. My role involves conducting tests to grade the raw materials prior to use in the production in the concrete. I am responsible for the monitoring of the materials, to ensure they are suitable to produce the highest quality structural, architectural concrete. Another vital element to my job role is safety, as the company is the largest precast concrete plant in Europe, it is of high importance to maintain safety across the workplace for the wellbeing of staff and reputation of the company. I have a job consisting of leading operations, investigating, quality management and process improvement. Equipped with extensive experience leading a production team with a keen focus on safety monitoring, and sharing best practices. The skills I have gained, from my many years working in the industry, range from leadership and delegation, to teamwork, communication, and management of time and colleague workload. I also pride myself in the ability to think outside the conventional. During my career I have always been determined to improve my knowledge of the role and how to better myself in all aspects of my day to day jobs. This is shown through having completed qualifications in a Level 5 - ‘Transforming Construction Managers’ in which I have developed my leadership and management skills. Also, I gained the qualification of Level 4 - ‘Transforming Team Leaders’ and Level 4 – ‘Supervisors for 2020’ from which I vastly increased my knowledge of how to further develop working relationships to produce a more dynamic team of workers. This shows my dedication to learn and my personal skills in communication and teamwork.
