Richard Jones

Richard Jones has 32 year’s experience in Highway Engineering and is a Fellow of the Society of Road Safety Auditors. He has carried out in excess of 300 safety and traffic engineering schemes ranging in location from the M25 and City of London to trunk and county roads. Safety Audits, numbering in excess of 850, have been undertaken on a large range of projects. In addition he was the Build Manager for the Olympic Route Network Delivery Team for the design stage checking and approving a total of approximately 5,000 drawings covering 173 kilometres of ‘games lanes’ to ensure proposals were appropriate and safe for all road users during the Olympic and Paralympic games.It is to be noted that this project was awarded the I.C.E. Annual award. Richard has also carried out Technical and Procedural audits of Area Commissions on behalf of the Highways Agency. Richard has been responsible in managerial roles for the delivery of a wide range of studies, audits and schemes and has extensive experience of financial and quality control, annual programme development, client liaison and team development/supervision. Richard has also worked internationally carrying out a variety of studies including the introduction of Road Safety Audit and Road Safety Engineering to developing countries. As well as being an accomplished Road Safety Engineer, Richard has extensive experience in all matters of Highway Maintenance having been a local authority Divisional Manager undertaking design, supervision and measurement of many and varied reconstruction and resurfacing projects together with routine works. During this period Richard developed close links with Members of Parliament, elected and local Councillors and was chosen as a representative of the department to give presentations to these groups. This was the culmination of a career path including experience in contract preparation, design and supervision of major road construction projects.
