Richard Thigpen

I’ve spent fourteen years in private practice and served for over 20 years as the General Counsel for the Carolina Panthers of the NFL. My experiences in private practice and as in-house counsel provide me with the knowledge and opportunity to better serve my clients. Currently, I focus my practice on commercial real estate matters, employment issues, ownership transition, and estate planning. In addition, I am engaged in alternative dispute resolution related to contracts, employment, tax, finance, sports, corporate governance, real estate, and construction. At all times during my career, my goal has been to enable clients to reach their objectives in an efficient, legally compliant manner. I am a good listener and have strong critical thinking, relationship, and mediation skills. My unique background enables me to be a strong contributing member of senior management, particularly for a small to mid-size business. I have also worked with many high net worth families on estate planning, transition of family businesses and related matters. In addition to my client work, I have been a featured speaker at law schools, continuing education seminars, community events, and other events.
