I founded Sales Force Europe in 2003 to fill a simple demand — a fast, flexible and low-risk way to scale international tech sales, delivering sustainable and predictable revenue. Originally from San Francisco, I worked in Silicon Valley until I was recruited to Europe in ‘96 to launch the sales and marketing activities of a new tech startup. I recruited Account Execs who were highly successful in their home countries where they had the language, culture and business network, but then were less productive developing countries where they didn’t have the experience. I soon realized that only via local business development experts, highly qualified per the sales and marketing strategy of the client, can you be successful in developing new international markets. They use their local language, cultural and domain knowledge, and leverage their existing ecosystems to sell tech directly to end users and via channels. The other challenge was to deliver the right service, in the right market, quickly adapting to market feedback, and managing this activity at the local level. If delivered by normal recruitment and employment, this can take 6-12 months to build, and equal time to adapt to market requirements, losing time, money and focus.
