Rick Spurr

Rick Spurr is an industry veteran with more than 35 years of global IT experience. He has a distinguished track record of taking early-stage technology companies and growing them into industry leaders.In his most recent role, Rick served as Chief Executive Officer of ZixCorp, a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ (ZIXI), from March 2005 to January 2016. His leadership brought financial stability to ZixCorp, growing the company’s earnings from a negative $1.33 per share in 2004 to a positive $0.07 per share in 2014. During his tenure, Rick also led ZixCorp to become the market leader in email encryption and expanded the company’s secure email expertise into data loss prevention and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) security.Elected to ZixCorp’s Board of Directors in May 2005, Rick continues to serve as a Member of the Board today.Rick began his career at IBM where he rose to the position of regional manager in Dallas with responsibility for more than a thousand employees. He then became group director of system integration and professional services (the corporate-wide pilot program and predecessor of IBM Global Services) for IBM in the Asia Pacific region based in Tokyo.Following a 15-year career with IBM, Rick successfully grew two early-stage technology start-ups to become mainstream providers, and with one of them, Entrust Technologies, he participated in the completion of a successful IPO and grew revenues tenfold in four years, exceeding $140 million a year.Directly prior to coming to ZixCorp, Rick was senior vice president of worldwide sales, marketing and business development for Securify, Inc.His guiding principle is to lead by example and to set high standards for integrity, drive, crisp execution and professionalism.Feel free to reach out if you’d like to learn more.
