I’m Storyful's deputy news editor in the US, having joined the company in Dublin, Ireland, in July 2014, and transferring to our New York City bureau in April 2017. Our teams in NYC, Los Angeles, Sydney, London and Dublin specialize in the timely sourcing, verification, and rights-clearing of newsworthy videos or images from social media (often known as user-generated content, or UGC), servicing varied and numerous news and media organizations across multiple markets. We also provide disinformation analysis, as well as debunks of mislabeled, misleading, or fake videos/images during breaking-news scenarios, helping newsrooms avoid false material being wrongly broadcast or published as news. My day involves monitoring breaking news events globally and determining Storyful's coverage hour-to-hour; writing, editing, and publishing to our 24/7 subscription-based wire service, Newswire by Storyful, as well as providing live online news-gathering support to multiple newsrooms worldwide.
